Bantry Hills - Lateral Support and Piling
Client: 23 Bantry Hills (Pty) Ltd
Engineer: Ekon Engineers
Project Period: March – October 2016
Fairbrother Geotechnical Engineering was appointed to deliver the full geotechnical package for the Bantry Hills luxury apartment development in Bantry Bay. The project was executed under fast-track conditions and involved both lateral support and foundation piling.
Scope of Work:
Lateral Support: 1,500 m² of shotcrete and anchoring systems installed to secure deep excavations in challenging ground conditions.
Foundation Piling: 204 auger piles, each 750 mm in diameter, installed to support the building structure.
Project Challenges:
A major challenge on site was the presence of an active electrical servitude running through the centre of the property. This infrastructure could not be relocated until a protective servitude structure was completed. Despite these constraints, Fairbrother successfully delivered on time and within budget.
This project reflects our ability to operate efficiently under pressure, managing complex sequencing and logistical challenges on tight urban sites.
