Fairbrother Geotechnical Engineering was appointed by SGB Construction to carry out the geotechnical scope for a high-end residential development across ERFs 4110 & 4111 on Beachy Head Drive, Plettenberg Bay.

Scope of Work:

  • Our scope included the full geotechnical preparatory works for the structure:

    • Lateral Support System: Installation of 126 forum-bored piles (406mm diameter) forming a continuous piled wall. This was supported with 315m² of shotcrete infill, steel mesh, and soil nails (SDA system).

    • Foundation Piling: Installation of 100 forum-bored piles to a depth of 8 metres to support the main dwelling.

Project Challenges:

This technically challenging coastal site required careful execution and coordination to meet engineering and environmental requirements within a tight timeframe.
