Chapman’s Peak - Anchors

Client: Haw & Inglis Building
Location: Chapman's Peak, Cape Town
Contract Value: R11 200 000
Engineer: Melis & Du Plessis

The project involved the upgrading of the existing Chapman’s peak drive that had been built in the 1940s. Fairbrother Geotechnical Engineering was responsible for the installation of rock bolts for the anchoring of the rockfall catch fences as well as rock anchors for retaining structures. The work had to be carried out off of cranes with man-cradles, and in some cases, helicopters were used as a result of the difficult access.
